This first draft of the environment was fun, especially considering it was my first time touching 3D software in like, two months.
Felt good to be building things by putting shapes together. Digging up old notebooks to remember how to do certain modelling tricks...
The environment is starting to come together! The rope wall and bridge was undoubtedly the biggest challenge - with the help of my friend Johannes Boivin the solution was found. The trick was to build the bridge ropes from a surface's edge using a new tool in Maya 2024, then wrapping the ropes onto a deformer plane.
The deformer plane will later need to be rigged, which is no problem, and depending on the animation needs I'll deform the PLANE, which will in turn deform the wrapped ropes.
